about Paris, Je T’aime, I liked the mimes(sweet), the divorce(fine dialogue), the couple trying to bring some spark to their life, the post woman visiting paris(loved the beginners' French),the cowboydream (was it heaven), the lullaby(quite ironic), the teasing guys(good), the paramedic (touching), the printer(I think he understood perfectly well despite the language barrier), the red trench coat(the flow is good),

the vampire and the beauty salon went over my head(think they were metaphorical).

the drug dealer was also quite good.

your review is half way

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5St9ex-dn1g
thats an AMV set to Robert Miles' Fable, featuring all of miyazaki's works.. can introduce the quality of animation to be expected.

BTW, the soundtracks and BGMs is also orchestral .. almost classical... check it out.

there seem to be so many films to recommend and almost impossible to watch all. too many good film in many languages.. the list for hayao Miyazaki is also almost complete in Netflix.. if you are interested in watching excellent animated features, you can check this out. it was magic to watch, all those simple details drawn perfectly and the sensitive storylines.. Can say what Pixar is to 3D, Miyazaki's Ghibli is for 2D animation. I never expected to feel emotionally watching hand drawn animation. ' Castle in the sky was awesome' so was 'Princess Mononoke' and 'Spirited Away'. 'kiki's Delivery Service' was soft and tender, so was ' My neighbour totoro'.

then comes Akira Kurusowa with Ran, Seven Samurai, ikiru, throne of blood.. well.. some other time.. too many good movies. too little time

SearchIndia.com Responds:

1. We usually don't get high on animations, but we do plan to watch Wes Anderson's much talked about Fantastic Mr. Fox.

2. Kurosawa is on our list, particularly his Ran and Seven Samurai.

I remember liking 'Loin du 16e', 'Bastille' the rest, I think I need to watch it again.

I was searching for ' Satyajit Ray' in Netflix and got a good list of his films, think I will start with jalsagar , then apu trilogy later on.. does Netflix cater to India.. doesnt seem it does..
Ok I'll wait my turn to watch these movies.. he made some comedy movies also, DD aired it on the afternoon regional language slot, many years back.. quite enjoyable childrens fare (Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne).

think his films will be like reading a Classic of Literature.

SearchIndia.com Responds:

We've seen Ray's Charulata but never got around to reviewing it.

We'll rewatch it and review it one of these days.

Funny.

I don't know who's the bigger clown. You or the guy behind her in the photo.

One more piece of info you'll find entertaining. She said in her mini interview on the show that she is helping get donations for some charity in India by fundraising at spelling bee competitions.

Tis' the fate of all great souls to be reviled/mocked at in their lifetimes. Think Jesus. Think Samuel Johnson. Think Abhishek Bachchan. ;)

More power to her. The blighted land needs all the assistance it can get.

FYI - Teen Tournament semifinal on Jeopardy tonight had desi contestant from Michigan, 16-year-old Hema Karunakaram. She's quite cute. She also doesn't seem nearly as socially awkward as the two guys she was competing against or just about all the other contestants from the tournament. Maybe that's why she lost!

Here's an article on her.

Well, she went home with $10K (going by the story in the above link). Not bad for a 16-year-old.

2. You write: She's quite cute.

No, we think she looks a-cute.

Maybe, you looked at the person behind her in the picture (in your link). ;)

There is also a remake of it titled, "New York , I love you." Really an amazing movie

Interesting.

Checked out the Wiki profile of New York, I Love You.

It seems conceptually similar to Paris, je t'aime, but we don't think it's a remake.
